Driving Tips
for France
Renting a car in France is all the more interesting when you know the country's driving rules perfectly. Note, however, that specificities may be noted in certain regions:
-
Low-emission zones: in France, all our agencies close to a low-emission zone provide you with the Crit’Air sticker. This is particularly the case in Greater Paris, but also in Toulouse or Marseille.
-
Speed limits: in France, remember that speed limits can be 80 or 90 km/h on departmental roads depending on the region. For the rest, no bad surprises expected: 50 km/h in town, 110 km/h on expressways and 130 km/h on motorways.
-
Weather Conditions: The climate in France can vary considerably from one region to another. In winter, our vehicles are equipped with winter tires in mountainous regions. However, snow chains are optional.
-
Reserved lanes: in some large cities, lanes are reserved for buses and taxis.
Best places to visit
In France
The best way to explore the most beautiful regions of France is to rent the right vehicle. Here are some ideal destinations to discover at the wheel of your rental car:
-
The Loire Valley: the region of the Loire castles is a must, especially if you are lucky enough to have a vehicle available. Visit gems like the Château de Chenonceau and the Château d'Amboise.
-
Provence: If you opt for a car rental in France, head south to explore the lavender fields, vineyards and hilltop villages of Provence. Road trips in the PACA region are always memorable adventures, between swimming, walks and tastings.
-
Brittany: if you visit the city of Rennes, then take the road towards the coast to explore Brittany. The coastal roads are particularly pleasant and will take you towards Saint-Malo or the charming town of Dinan.

What is AdBlue?AdBlue is a diesel engine additive present in most of our diesel vehicles, which helps reduce NOx emissions. Each vehicle equipped with AdBlue is equipped with a warning light, which signals the next depletion of the additive. The remaining level will be indicated directly by the vehicle's instrumentation. It is important to remember that the depletion of AdBlue results in the inoperability of the vehicle. Therefore, when the warning light comes on, it is advisable to immediately fill up with AdBlue. Refueling can be done free of charge by going to one of our agencies, facilities or affiliated networks or at any service station, before payment. In the latter case, the amount will be refunded and deducted from the amount due for the rental, upon return, upon presentation of an invoice.
